Sister's Top 5:

Headed to the ferry to ride to Staten Island at the start!
1. There are so many great things about this race starting with the course itself~ You literally run through the streets of New York's 5 boroughs and through 5 bridges: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan. Then you finish at the Tavern on the Green in Central Park. The best run of your life!

14 miles in and going strong!
2. The entire city is alive and there for the marathon! The moment you cross the first bridge-Verrazan- Narrows bridge all the way through the entire 26.2 there are fans!  The highlight is when are on the Queensboro bridge you can literally hear the screaming and cheering from what they call the "Wall of Sound" 1rst avenue packed with spectators- it gives you chills!
3. We took a ferry to the Staten Island start which passed the Statue of Liberty- coolest transportation to the start!
4. Great BIG expo with tons of merchandise to look at. There were also a lot of elites and other famous athletes there to provide information, do interviews, etc. Very organized packet pick-up!

Our signs say, "I Run to Be With My Sister"
5. Very cool sponsor activities- for example we were able to record messages to ourselves to cheer that were triggered by our timing tag so when we passed miles markers with Jumbotrons our messages came up- it was very cool to look forward to and to watch! Also, we were on the NYC Times Square Jumbotron where we also recorded messages and friends could text in support that showed up on a ticker.  Check out our picture.

21 Miles in- We are Almost There!!!

Sister's Bottom 4:

1. Since there are so many runners, you are literally packed almost the whole time.
2. Early morning start and then long wait at Staten Island (about 3 hours to start).
3. Low supply of food at the start because of the mass numbers.
4. Lottery registration- very hard to get in. Stacey got in the lottery so Tracy ran for charity (Raised $2700 for Autism Speaks)

Course Map and Profile

Yes that's us jammin!

Sister's Highlights

1. Rock 'n' Roll's always have great BIG expos with tons of freebies and products to buy.
2. The half marathon ran through the heart of Nashville so there were a lot of very cool sites to see
3. Great post race country concert!
4. Plenty of water, Cytomax and even GU on the run to hand out. No shortage there.
5. Bands throughout the course
6. Nashville is a great place to run! Great BBQ and people throughout the city!
7. Tons of other runners with funny costumes
8. Great spectators
9. Quick and easy transportation shuttle to the start
10. Race hotels are within a short waking distance to the shuttles

Sister's Lowlights:

1. The rolling hills- wow were they a quad killer. Worst than San Francisco!
2. The weather was really humid that day and they actually had to close the course for the marathoners and turn some around as late as mile 21 (yes this was the year of the Nashville floods and they actually started that day)
3. 30,000 runners so it was packed in the front at the start
4. Too much rain so the finish line festival was a dud
5. Not as many bands on the route because of the impending rain
Got to LOVE the finish line!
